Stong Start’s Unique Features

Strong-Start-IMG• An inquiry-based curriculum: We help your child gain information, solve problems, prove assumptions and collect data, encouraging them to understand not just what they learn—but how they learn it—so an intrinsic motivation to learn develops.

• Fostering social and emotional intelligence: Our teachers and staff are trained to use positive behavior guidance with all Strong Start children. Addressing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development is a highly effective way to help your child learn self-regulation and confidence.

• Kindergarten readiness: Our inquiry-based curriculum aligns with Connecticut Early Learning and Development and National Common Core State Standards. This is not required for childcare centers in Connecticut, but it’s the right thing to do to help your child in Kindergarten and beyond. What’s more, our teachers communicate with you regularly so that you can extend what’s learned here at home as well.

• More square feet for your child: Connecticut early centers must offer 35 square feet per child. At Strong Start, we allocate 50 square feet per child. More space means better learning.

• Our own indoor gym: We’re one of the only centers to have our own dedicated indoor gym. Our 1,000 square foot space has kid-friendly rubberized flooring. Your child can be physically active regardless of weather.

• Excellent teacher qualifications: All Strong Start teachers have at least a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with credits in early childhood education. Our Teacher Assistants have a Child Development Associate credential, college certificate or degree in early childhood education. All staff have also completed training mandated by Connecticut, plus our own training procedures.

• Professional staff development: We’re committed to providing engaging professional development for our entire staff. Their happiness and fulfillment results in the same for your child.

• An on-site owner: Strong Start founder Marc Hoffman works here on-site each day. He’s a trained educational therapist and entrepreneur who has built other early learning centers—and he’s passionate about being actively involved in day-to-day life at Strong Start.

• Safety and security standards: We go beyond state licensing requirements so your child can feel physically and emotionally secure. We’ve invested in an extensive video security system and fingerprint entry technology. Our staff is CPR trained and First Aid certified, and we use only environmentally friendly green cleaning products.

• We’re completely independent: We’re not a franchise of a larger corporate brand or daycare in your neighbor’s basement. Neither too big nor too small, Strong Start is the right size for your child.

• Care on your schedule: We’re here to support your family’s needs in every way possible. We offer full and partial day care, year-round. Drop-off starts at 7:00 am, and we’re open until 6:30 pm in our location at the Merritt Parkway and Routes 8 & 25 right next door to the Trumbull Movie Theater.

• All-inclusive activities: We integrate enrichment programs—backed by state-of-the-art equipment and research-based instruction—into each day’s schedule to foster your child’s self-esteem, setting the foundation for a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle.
